Orphéon is an installation I made for the Design Biennale Zurich 2021.
Inspired by drums, the fountain plays music with water and cymbals following a computer-programmed music score. This melody is disrupted by the random movement of the floating steel balls. By pushing them in the pond, one can play with the sounds.
Cymbals and drums are hammered by hand in wooden molds and the water showers and 3d printed.
When you enter “Orphéon”, you enter a sacred realm where an enchanting fountain performs an ode to rain. Listen to the strange music played by raindrops and take a moment to enjoy this mystical atmosphere.
Installation in the old botanic garden In Zürich from the 12th of August until the 5th of September 2021 during the Design biennale.
