Biography

Designing smart objects with joyful notes, Swiss industrial designer Laure Gremion works on different scales, from product and furniture design to retail concepts and cultural installations. Stimulated by ambitious projects, she is regularly called upon to experiment with all types of materials, exploring their properties. This in-depth research work on materials, shapes, and textures allows her to add unexpected functionality to her design pieces and installations.

Keen on learning and perpetuating specific know-how, she collaborates with craftspeople and experts from all over the world. With a strong interest in manufacturing techniques, she brings a fresh perspective and innovative aspects to the production process.

Since founding her studio in 2017, this ECAL Graduate has been teaming up with a broad range of clients, such as global design brands, Swiss watchmaking houses, local companies, as well as galleries and cultural institutions. Through her collaborative and engaged approach, she aims to foster the social dimension of design, carefully choosing partners to encourage short circuits or involving sheltered workshops in the production, when possible.

Her work is periodically showcased at international events such as the Salone del Mobile in Milan, Design Days in Switzerland, or the World Economic Forum in Tianjin.

Liuli - waste into wonder 💎

During my visit to Boshan, I learned that Chinese liuli workshops often experiment with mixing color formulas to create pigments, while other countrie’s Glass workshops typically purchase ready-made glass rods.
